Now I shall start with the Traditional Usui Reiki Symbols
Some people might say that the Reiki symbols are sacred and should not be shown to those who have not trained in the art of healing and working with energies.

Each symbol will hold it's own energy, represents a truth, and can be used to invoke its meaning; thus, its effect.
It is important to know that Usui Sensei did not begin attuning others to Reiki with symbols. He initially taught the individual five principles and unique energies each symbol represented. Thus, if one understands the energy, the symbols themselves were not needed to invoke their power.

The name of the first symbol taught is Cho Ku Rei (pronounced Cho Koo Ray)
and is generally taught in Reiki levels 1 and 2.
Cho Ku Rei means to put all the universal power here and would be drawn on to the palms of a practioners hands before they send out any healing.
This Symbol is also drawn on to the crown chakra of the recipent before a Reiki session begins.

The next symbol is Sei Hei Ki (pronounced Say Hay Kee) and this is taught at Reiki Level 2.
Sei Hei Ki is an emotional symbol and it means God and Humanity become one.
The symbol is used to help release emotional blockages.

The final symbol that is taught in Reiki level 2 is Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen which is used to send distance healing to all.
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen (pronounced Hon Sha Ze Show Nen) which means may the Budda in me connect with the Budda in you and promote harmony and peace.

The master symbol is taught and given in the master level and is known as Dai Ko Myo.
This symbol is used in attunements, it heals the spiritual state of the recipient and connects them with their greatest potential.
Dai Ko Myo means Great being of the universe shine on me.
